Fess Parker, Ashley's, Pinot Noir 2021 (Santa Rita Hills, CA)
Producer Notes: Bright cherry, strawberry and cranberry fruit flavors interwoven with layers of spice, clove, toast and earthy notes. Big yet polished, this Pinot Noir can be enjoyed now or cellared for 4-7 years.
Jeb Dunnuck, 95 Points: The 2021 Pinot Noir Ashley's brings another level of depth and is medium-bodied and as elegant as they come, with beautiful cherry and framboise fruits, subtle nuances of white pepper and leafy herbs, flawless balance, and a great finish. Fermented with 25% whole clusters and aged 15 months in 53% new French oak, this brilliant effort will evolve for 7-8 years, although I see no reason to hold off either.
Wine Enthusiast, 94 Points: Sagebrush, anise and turned earth aromas give depth to plum and cranberry fruit tones on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. Charcuterie and cranberry-sauce flavors are enhanced by thyme and dried sage elements.
